Dr. Patel is both a Dentist and Naturopathic Physician. She completed her dental training at University of Pennsylvania and residency in OM/OFP at UMDNJ-University Hospital/NJ Dental School. She obtained her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine and Master’s of Oriental Medicine in acupuncture and chinese herbology from the Phoenix Institute of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. She is a Diplomate of the ABOM and ABOP, Fellow of Dental Surgery Royal College of Surgeons (Ed) and Fellow of the International College of Oral Implantologists. She also trained in Evidence Based Medicine at the Forsyth Institute in Boston. Over her 19 year career path in private practice, Dr. Patel also held academic positions as an Assistant Professor at UMDNJ and NYU where she attended to postgraduate GPR, OM, OFP programs and directed the clinical pre-doctoral program in OM, OFP and Special Needs. Currently, Dr. Patel is completing her Doctorate in Acupuncture and practicing Integrative OFP/OM in Tempe, Arizona.
This presentation will cover the basis for individualized care, clinical challenges, evidence and cases. It will outline the history of complementary medicine, it’s application, limitations and how current clinical practice can benefit from integrative medicine to improve outcomes and quality of life in pain sufferers.
