Position Overview

A specialty practice in Rockville, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Orofacial Pain Specialist to join its team.

The successful candidate will independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and manage sleep-disordered breathing using oral appliance therapy. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage patients referred for obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, and related sleep-disordered breathing
  • Diagnose and treat temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
  • Select, fit, titrate, and manage oral appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, including follow-up care and long-term monitoring
  • Review sleep study results and coordinate care with referring physicians, sleep specialists, and other treating providers
  • Monitor patient adherence and treatment outcomes and adjust therapy as clinically indicated
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Support appropriate coding, insurance documentation, and medical billing for oral appliance therapy
  • Participate in continuing education and remain current with evidence-based practices in dental sleep medicine

Qualifications

Candidates must:

  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain an active dental license in the State of Maryland
  • Be a graduate of a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
  • Have completed a CODA-accredited orofacial pain dental residency program

Position Overview

Touro College of Dental Medicine is seeking a Director of the Orofacial Pain Program to oversee the education of dental students in the discipline of orofacial pain.

The Director will also treat patients with complex facial pain conditions, providing students with the opportunity to observe firsthand how patients with orofacial pain are evaluated and treated. Clinical responsibilities may also include supervision of general clinical activities.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate on pain research with the medical school and medical center.

Schedule

This is a five-day-per-week position with a typical schedule of:

  • Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Friday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM, although hours may vary
